HOOPP, one of ICPM’s Research Partners, recently released their 2024 Canadian Retirement Survey which polled 2,000 Canadians on their attitude, behaviour and preparedness when it comes to retirement savings.

It finds:

– One in four (26%) Canadians expect to keep working in retirement in order to support themselves.

– One in five (22%) Canadians have no savings at all (including retirement savings).

– Nearly half (49%) of Canadian women have less than $5,000 in savings, compared to one in three men (33%).

– The vast majority of Canadians (88%) believe all workers should have access to an affordable retirement savings arrangement; 86% agree it is in everyone’s interest for more people to have better retirement savings.
