Céline van Asselt was appointed Chief Finance and Risk Officer at APG in 2011. In this role, she is ultimately responsible for performance and risk control, external reporting and financial controlling, both for the operations of APG AM and for the investment portfolios. In a recent interview, she noted that in the short term, her priority is the control of financial and non-financial risks, and to avoid incurring unnecessary costs. In the long term, her focus is to establish a strong financial and risk management function, and to ensure that results are optimized, not maximized.

Currently, she is a Member of the Supervisory Board at Unigarant and Menzis, and an Advisor to the Board at Commonland.

From 2007-2011, Ms. Van Asselt was Deputy Director of Risk Management at ASR Nederland, where she was responsible for implementing the Solvency II program as well as for operational risk management. During her career, she has been frequently involved in risk and performance management, and management control. Prior to ASR, she was Director of Risk and Business Development at Fortis, a financial services firm, where she was involved in global risk and performance management and she held positions in asset management at MeesPierson, a private bank. Ms. Van Asselt holds a degree in Economics from the University of Amsterdam.
